Windows CE does come with an FTP server. Are you creating the OS image yourself? If so you can include the sample FTP server. If not, it's unlikely that the OEM did (but maybe they did?). Anyway, if you don't build the image, ask the OEM if it's there. Or find a 3rd party ftp server that can be installed after the image was built.

I have a need to reliably transfer files to and from several CE 5 based devices from a server PC (initiated from the PC).
These CE devices are docked in Ethernet cradles around the network, so can be individually addressed, and the IP addresses are known.
The situation would be the same if they were wireless I guess.
Can anyone suggest the best way to do this?
Would an FTP server running on each device be a good method?
If so, does a Windows CE FTP server exist?
Are there other .NET ways this could be done (I am fairly new to .NET) ?
I can happily communicate with them using sockets but am trying to avoid writing a file transfer protocol myself.
I am using VS2005, and C# .NET.
All suggestions welcome.
