Thank you for your reply.

I apologize for taking so long to get back to you.

Yes, I am talking about the FC200. I've done a little VB in visual studio 6,
I'm just learning dot net. I've done RPG financial programming on the AS400
for quite a few years, but absolutely nothing with Windows CE.
The FC200 comes with meter reading software already loaded. I need to add
two small specialized applications. One is for our 4 cut off / cut on people
to perform a variety of service orders, some of which require the entry of a
reading and some do not. I have a small SQL Server database designed. They
will log in, search for the next service order to work, and complete it when
done. Entry of comments is optional.
After I finish this I have 2 units set aside for a fire hydrant application
where other service crews exercise fire hydrants and enter a variety of
information such as flow rates and conditions.
None of this software is available off the shelf or I would simply buy it.

Actually, I'm quite sure our programs will handle both applications
easily. We have a general app that effectively reads easily customized
scripts.

I'm not sure how close hydrant and extinguisher tests might be. We
definitely have some folks using our software for hydrant inspections.
