Re: Wince WebServer

Sure, but MS can't possibly know every possible mutation of a
"configuration" that needs to be done so there's no way that a solution out
of the box could be provided for you. Write an ISAPI filter or something
that adjusts what you want. They have several samples in the public PB
source tree.

Thanks a lot for your help guys but.. it's very difficult for me to
understand why there's not a simple way to configure remotly (http I mean)
a device. In my opinion this is a must, of course WinCE is a great OS but
if I want to implement a router, a PLC, an Audio Codec (as my case) or
other device you don't have any "native" tool to configure (read "write a
configuration file") by http the device. It's strange... Please correct me
if i'm not right. I'll try to write an ISAPI but I think my need is very
common.
Bye, Giuseppe

If you want the Filesystem object stuff, you may be better off with
ISAPI's but as Chris said only you can know for sure.

Hopefully below pages give some guidance:

If you have PB then you already have the ability to put the standard ASP
server into the build.

Whether or not it will suit your needs better than ISAPI only you know.

Thanks Paul for your answer, I found GoAhead Web Server that seems to
work on WinCE (I have complete control on device with platform Builder)
and now I would like to try to write file with ASP. In your opinion,
could be a solution instead to extend ISAPI ?
Thanks a lot.

You *could* develop your own Web server application, but you don't
necessarily have to. What device are you targeting? Does it *have*
the Microsoft Web server in it? If so, you could use the ability to
extend the server with ISAPI extensions. If you are not in control of
the operating system on the device, you need to realize that every
device is going to have a different set of Windows CE components in it
and many will *not* have the Web server.

Hello, I would like to configure my wince device using web based
application. What I need to do is to set remotely some variable for
my device (something like IpAddress). A way could be to write a
configuration file to reset variable that another program (in c++)
use to run. Unfortunely IIS support ASP but u cannot write file. Is
there a way to write file or do I need to develop my little web
server application?
Thanks all
Giuseppe
