Re: Can I port eVC++ app for Win CE 4.2 to VS 2005?

Yes, this is true. The code should work fine, as long as you aren't taking
advantage of too many eVC quirks.

For the CE 4.1 and 4.2-based devices, your SDKs for those devices *will not
work* with VS2005, so you will not be able to target those devices from that
environment. For PPC2003, things should work fine.

Unless you really need to move, now doesn't appear to be the right time for
you.

None of the platforms I have installed for Windows CE show up in VS 2005.
All I see is the Windows Mobile 5 SDK and the Pocket PC 2003 SDK. Do I
need
to continue using eVC++ for my Windows CE platforms? Thanks.

I haven't tried VS 2005 yet, so I'm speculating. Are you currently
using eVC 4 with the Pocket PC 2003 SDK to build executables that run
on Pocket PC 2003 and some other platforms based on versions 4.1 and
4.2 of the Windows CE operating system? If you are, then I think you
have a good chance of building with VS 2005 using the Pocket PC 2003
SDK and having your apps run on all the same platforms. But if you're
using multiple SDKs, then you will likely succeed only if you can get
those SDKs to work with VS 2005. And that depends very heavily on the
folks who supplied those SDKs.
