In platform.reg, i found the following entry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\HDProfile]
    "MountFlags"=dword:2

According to the help, to mount this file system as the root, i had to
change MountFlags to have the value of 4. I did this and rebuilt my image.
After that i did an Ethernet boot but nothing was displayed on the device's
monitor. Usually, the CE desktop interface should have come up but it
doesn't. What happened Steve?
