Always state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista SP1;
Vista
64-bit SP2; Win7; Win7 64-bit) when posting in a forum or newsgroup.
Please
do so in your next reply.

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than
Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?

Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this
machine (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you
bought
it)?
</paste>
.I'm using windows vistahome premium 32bts,service pack 2.i have AVG
anti
virus and my subscription is up todate.no anti spyware and no other
firewall ,i have windows firewall turn off.i have had this comp for 3
yrs
and never had a problem with my windows updates..

What Michael said!

There is a very good chance that you are seeing the effects of a
hijackware
infection!

NB: If you had no anti-virus application installed or the subscription
had
expired *when the machine first got infected* and/or your subscription
has
since expired and/or the machine's not been kept fully-patched at Windows
Update, don't waste your time with any of the below: Format & reinstall
Windows. A Repair Install will NOT help!

Microsoft PCSafety provides home users (only) with no-charge support in
dealing with malware infections such as viruses, spyware (including
unwanted software), and adware.

Otherwise...

1. See if you can download/run the MSRT manually:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx

NB: Run the FULL scan, not the QUICK scan! You may need to download the
MSRT on a non-infected machine, then transfer MRT.EXE to the infected
machine and rename it to SCAN.EXE before running it.

2a. WinXP => Run the Windows Live Safety Center's 'Protection' scan
(only!)
in Safe Mode with Networking, if need be:
http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/howsafe.htm

2b. Vista or Win7=> Run this scan instead:
http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/whatsnew.htm

3. Now run a thorough check for hijackware, including posting requested
logs in an appropriate forum, not here.

If these procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting
this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.

I do Have A Anti Virus running ,i have Avg,and the reason my windows
FireWall is turn of ,because i have 1 running with my AVG ,and its not
just
a free version of AVG .i do NOT have any virus ,it runs every morning at a
Schedule time.

If you're running AVG Internet Security v9.0, not just AVG Anti-Virus (Free
or paid), that's NOT what you told me earlier: "i have AVG antivirus and my
subscription is up todate..."

You couldn't possibly have been running AVG Internet Security since you
first turned-on your computer. Any chance a McAfee or Norton free-trial
came preinstalled on your computer when you bought it?

Is AVG Linkscanner, Search-Shield, Active Surf-Shield, Security toolbar, or
any of the email scanning components installed?

You may encounter temporary connection-related errors [e.g., 0x80072EFD]
when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates:

PA Bear <Michael..i went into MSRT. Microsoft.com/scurity malwaremove and
downloaded the Malicious software removal tool and ran it and there are NO
infected files on my computer ..[now] what .

Now see Steps #2 & #3 in my previous reply.

...i am not computer geniues but i
know its impotant to get updated.would it be possible to download Vista
Window over the excisting 1 ,or do i have to remove everything to do and
lose all my files.i guess i8'm getting alittle fustrated cause i don't
know what to do or how to do it.i even tried doing doing a system restore
but that didn't do it .

System Restore's not going to come to the rescue here.

P A Bear..actually my AVG anti virus has all my Security Components
Active ,Firewall, E-mail,anti spyware,linkscanner,etc.

Uninstall AVG Internet Security & reboot. Now do a fresh install of AVG Internet Security, this time select the CUSTOM install option and do NOT install (uncheck) Linkscanner, Search-Shield, Active Surf-Shield, Security toolbar, or any of the email scanning components.

Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your email

Question: Have you purchased AVG Internet Security?

Question: What anti-virus application was installed before you installed AVG Internet Security and was your subscription still current?
