Windows downloaded auto updates, rebooted and then wouldnt open at all.
I
hunted down an installation disk (I am away from home) but find I
cannot even
get the error page to respond to keyboard commands to reboot from disc
etc.
Cant F8 to get to bios, F12 gets me the blue page of booting options
but
arrows, enter or esc wont work....Yes, keyboard is OK as F12 command
works.
I feel this updates instigated problem has caused more damage than it
has for
others...any suggestions to recover the problem...

peej_a wombat, use F2 for acess to bios, then choose your bootoption.
You can choose cd/usb/or FDD for boot device; google vista ntoskernel
corrupt, which is the case for a lot of noload problems. You might try
download for ntoskernel from U$ boot disk or online source if you can
find it. Everybody wants to sell a dream, no joy on single download of
the kernel. best I have at this time... luck peej-a
