.net updates errors

Hi,

I just happened to be updating to Silverlight3_Tools and related files. I also had error messages and downloaded files to remove previous beta versions, removing earlier .Net Versions in Control Panel, clean up utility etc...

Basically, I spent 2 days trying to get this to work w/o success. I deleted files, rebooted, and even installed SP2 for Vista (480 megs) hoping it would fix the files that were missing/corrupt.

Try to go back to an earlier restore point ie.. Installation of the 3.5 Framework. Or you can try deleting all the files in the Microsoft.NET\Framework. Then run a program like System Mechanic to clean up the registry. Reboot. Then reinstall all the Frameworks again. Vista doesn't let you delete v2.0.50727. The only other solution is to reinstall the OS.

i keep getting lately the same updates notifications about the next .net
ramework patches:
Update to .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 for the .NET Framework Assistant
1.0 x86 (KB963707)

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family
Update for .NET versions 2.0 through 3.5 (KB951847) x86

however, when i try to update, it keeps failing. i tried to uninstall
anything of the .net framework (using the add/remove window and then the MS
cleanup utility) and start the installation all over again, but it didn't
help. i also tried using a special tool for removing any traces of .net
framework from :

nothing helped. when posting about this in a forum, the only answer that i
got is exactly what i have done (because that's what i've found ) :

can anyone please help me? i really need to use the .net framework properly .

btw, i use a legal windows xp home edition, sp3 , 32bit OS .
