Re: Error 80070424, Vista Ultimate x-64 after installing SP2

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Yes, seems to be a tough one.

But, I ran all scans (also the windows "deep" scan, as suggested on this
forum) and I never work without my virus scanner running and
auto-updating...nothing found!

Apart from this little issue, everything seems to work fine...If it was
hijacked some way, I would assume I'd see/experience more problems?

Anyway, if it's not "lethal" to my system, I can just keep on downloading
manually...must say I'm also here a bit concerned because I checked the
download site and my system replied I needed no new downloads at all, even
since half July....

Mmm....

Also: once the Windows 7 hectics are over: was planning to upgrade to 7
Ultimate 64 bits anyway....maybe the disease is over then (or maybe it
totally collapses)....

Need to be practical: no need to panic until there is a reason to panic.
Make regular backups of my data anyway.

Thanks for the help so far...

This is looking more and more like symptoms of a hijackware infection, Jan.

PA Bear: yes, I put Update on Automatic update, rebooted, but still the

Tried the other options as well in the Windows Update menu (and then
reboot), but with no success.

Mowgreen: BITS and Windows Update were both on Auto(delayed start) in
services; I changed Bits to manual, but with no success: still the same

Can you enable & start Automatic Updates, reboot, and then find it still
