My pervious subscription expired 1-5-09. I am not sure if i ran the removal
tool. I did uninstall the previous version though.
I am not 100% certain that I was able to access automatic updates before I
installed the new version of KIS 2009. I am unable to access the information
when my last update occurred because I found some other solutions that I
tried and that erased the history.
I am running windows vista home premium with service pack 1.

Are you absolutely certain that you were able to access/use Windows Update
before you installed KIS 2009 (e.g., on 05 Jan-09 and earlier)?
Is Automatic Updates enabled?
