Out of the blue I got this need to download again? I used the autoupdate and
it fails. I go through the express and it fails I went throught the Microsoft
updates and it fails. I selected the file from the link above and here is
what I got.

"Setup has detected that the Service Pack version of this system is newer
than the update your applying. There is no need to install this update."
ummm what gives?

Robin Walker has been posting this solution along with many other users so I
can't take the credit for it. It's also documented on the WGA Forum that MS
host.

According to Eric Brodish [MSFT] "This error mean WU_E_UH_INVALIDMETADATA
this is most likly due to the fact that the metadata that was download does
not mached the expected metadate listed in the Softwaredistribustion DB on
your machine"

Many users have had success in the easiest solution being simply manually
download and install the update rather than to rename the
SoftwareDistribution folder.

One day i went to shut down, and there were updates to install before I
shutdown according to the shutdown winwod, but I like to see what I install.

So I ran Windows update and it installed stuff for me. But ever since this
this genuine advantage install fails:

Installation Failure

Error Code: 0x80242006
Try to install the update again, or request help from one of the following
resources.

Any ideas out here ? thanks ...
