First, I live 20 miles from the nearest town with cable so I cant get cable
or a cable modem this far out. Same for the DSL line. ONLY reasonable
choice is dial up. Right now it’s running at 26.4 kbps. Right now that’s a
download rate of 891 bps. That is because automatic update is using the rest
to download the latest updates. If I set it to the recommended mode
(automatic), it is always downloading whenever I am connected to the
internet. I set the schedule but it ignores it. It looks like my only
option is to set the choice to download and install only when I tell it. It
would be so much better if the scheduler worked. Thank you for your help.
The scheduler, by design, controls when updates are *installed* rather than when
they are *downloaded*.
