Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

YW & thanks for your feedback.

Reboot before attempting to clear any "temp directory" - Windows will not allow you to delete anything needed during the current boot, Doc.

Thanks for the return and info.
The article offer no less than 12 ways to troubleshot. Very impressive!
One word of caution about clearing the temp directory completely. For some
stupid reason there are items that refuse to be deleted, even with clear
attributes. There are also directories, even empty, that if deleted, will
create problems with some programs (TrenMicro antivirus for instance).
The advice of search and repair of the program was already successfully use.
Rather simple and fast.

If I can be permitted...
The KB959140 (Outlook 2003 Junk E-mail Filter of 13 Jan 2009, can not be
applied.
This is either through Win Update or by download, or even through
execution
of the msp file. This is to a WXP SP3 Desktop.
It is verified that an older version 1.4.7027.27 is installed. The new
one
is 1.4.7114.15.
Error message for the Win Update and run of the downloaded file is
"Update
can not be applied"
Error message for the msp file is "installation ended prematurely because
of
an error"
On reboot of the system there is the message "Click Turn Off to install
important update", subsequently, Win Update is continuing to offer and
attempt to install same KB959140.
Your assistance will be appreciated.
Cheers
