Re: I can't install critical updates

I finally suceed to install WUA because I found another WUA file on Microsoft site which has exactly the same version (6.2.29.0) but with a slightly different size (6079 vs 6071 Ko). Yes I reboot my computer but it didn't still work.

The code MasterBlaster posted is contained in the AU Reset tool.
Maslow, please post the WinHTTP_.log.txt, Fileversions.txt, CheckSUR.log, and _progress.log.

Q. When you attempted to install the WUA did you reboot afterwards ?

- WindowsUpdate.log

- bitsqueue.txt
- Descriptors.txt
- CheckSUR.log

Under "progress.CAB" :
- _progress.log
- DLLReg_output.txt

2) I tried to install WindowsUpdateAgent but, as you said MowGreen, it didn't work (I've got the same code error : 800736B2)

3) @ Master Blaster : Is this manipulation valid also for Vista ? For example, in C:\Windows\System 32, I have "wucltux.dll" instead of "wucltui.dll"

Try this fix from Microsoft Update Help:

Open Notepad and copy/paste the following lines....

---- Start code below

@echo off
cls

regsvr32 wuapi.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
regsvr32 wups2.dll
regsvr32 wuweb.dll

pause

---- End code above

Now Save with "File type = ALL", and filename = FixUpdates.cmd

You can now run FixUpdates.cmd to fix Win Updates. I've used this in the past, it worked for me.

Please provide a list of *all* .txt files and .log files.
The tool attempts to install the WindowsUpdateAgent but, obviously,
something went awry. Let's check the logs before attempting to run the
tool once more, Maslow.
