Re: .Net Framework 2.0, 3.0 downloads but fails to install on XP

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

1. Extract the contents of dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip to your desktop, for convenience.

2. A desktop folder named dotnetfx_cleanup_tool will be created. Open this folder and double-click on the file "dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.exe" to run the utility. Follow all prompts.

3. You can now delete the "dotnetfx_cleanup_tool" ZIP file and folder from your desktop.

4. Close all open applications (i.e., anything with an icon the your taskbar).

5. Assuming the .NET Framework versions you'd found in Add/Remove Programs and wrote down (per my instructions) were .NET Framework v1.1, .NET Framework v2.0, and .NET Framework v3.0...

Right-click on each of the following links, in turn, saving each download to your desktop:

..NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (SP1)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=A8F5654F-088E-40B2-BBDB-A83353618B38

..NET Framework 2.0 SP1
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=79BC3B77-E02C-4AD3-AACF-A7633F706BA5

..NET Framework 3.0 SP1
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=EC2CA85D-B255-4425-9E65-1E88A0BDB72A

[You don't need to install, e.g., .NET Framework 1.1 before installing .NET Framework 1.1 SP1.]

6. Install each of the downloads in #5 above by double-clicking on the saved file; Start with .NET Framework 1.1 SP1, then do .NET Framework 2.0 SP1, then do .NET Framework 3.0 SP1.

Follow all prompts; you may need to reboot several times.

=> If these procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) computer repair shop.

I tried to install the .Net Framework after doing the things on your

dotnetredist.exe didn't install as it asked me where I want to put it.
I didn't know as the .Net folder in Windows is gone after removing all my
.Net in my computer.

I need to know where I can find .Net Framework that will install without
using a winzip program? I need the .Net Framework for Windows Version
5.2.3790 XP X64
v 1.0.3705 v 1.1.4322 and v 2.0.50727
Do I need to make folders somewhere in my pc first? If so where should I
put the folders?
I was afraid I'd download the wrong .Net files for the Windows I'm running.
Are the files listed used for all windows applications? I saw one for
Service Pack 3 and I'm running Service Pack 2. I was afraid it would mess
up my system if I download the wrong ones.
I want to download the ones I removed using the Windows Installer Clean Up
Utility but I couldn't find them online in the order I listed above
1.0.3705,
1.1.4322 & 2.0.20727. Are there updated versions of these .Net Framework
files that would be better and would install without a Fail?

Lots of info I know I appreciate your time and effort to help me with
this Microsoft .Net Framework issue.

Dear PA Bear,

In MyComputer, Windows Folder, .Net Framework Folder, is:
v1.0.3705,
v1.1.4322 & v2.0.50727

so those are the versions in my pc but why then do I keep getting a
pop
up when my computer turns on that I can't run features on my new video
card
with out .Net Framework version 2.0? When update runs it shows that I
can
install .Net versions 2.0 & 3.0 yet they won't install showing failed
after
downloading?
