Check the KB958644.log, located in WINNT for any errors and post it
into
your reply, OR, download the update from here and *save* it:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e22eb3ae-1295-4fe2-9775-6f43c5c2aed3&DisplayLang=en

Once the download completes, use ' Method 3: Perform a clean boot of
the
computer and then install the update', here :
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883825

Did that get KB958644 installed ?

Thank you for the reply, TaurArian.

I checked my directory and there is no (C:\Windows) folder.

There is a (C:\WINNT\Temp) folder.

There is also a (C:\Temp) folder.

I performed an Internet search for the error code, (0x8007010B), and
it
found several hits, but in each and every case, the code was for the
Windows Vista O/S, and again, I am using Windows 2000.

Very frustrating...

I am not absolutely sure, but I think that this update was part of a
multi-update pack which was installed recently. And I think the
(KB958644) update failed while the rest of the update installed as
intended.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond, and if you have any
further suggestions, I would appreciate any help you can give me...

MowGreen,

THANK YOU!

It did allow me to perform the update using your suggestions!

It now gives me some issues regarding the msconfig settings that are
currently in use, but * I think * I can figure that out.

If not, you can bet I'll be back with hat in hand again.

I really appreciate you taking the time to give me some help
