Re: MS08-067 (Issues?)

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Thanks PA Bear... We're still busy applying the patch and have only noticed
these two so far. Since they're not currently debilitating, we're goign to
continue and work through it. This post was primarily set up as an area to
share experiences.

Thanks for the info and if we encounter issues in a way we become affected
in production, we'll certainly place the call.

Thanks!

For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in
the United States and in Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft
subsidiary. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with
security updates. When you call, clearly state that your problem is related
to a Security Update and cite the update's KB number (e.g., KB999999).

For more information about how to contact your local Microsoft subsidiary
for security update support issues, visit the International Support Web
site: http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx

For enterprise customers, support for security updates is available through
your usual support contacts.

I've come across a couple issues deploying this:

1. On a PDC Emulator (2003) we received Event ID 2510 - The Server
service
was unable to map error code 998. This occurred rapidly for exactly 4
minutes then all of a sudden stopped. We're waiting to reboot again to
see
if they come back, maybe some sort of timeout. The server is running
Symantec AV, so it might be related to Symantec. Just wondering if anyone
else has seen it since applying MS08-067?
2. On a DHCP server (2003 R2) we received Event ID 1059 - DHCP Service
failed to contact a Directory server for authorization. This lasted for
approximately 25 minutes then stopped when Event ID 1044 was issued
stating
it was now authorized to start. Possibly a fluke, we'll test further.
3. We have a SQL error related to named pipes occurring every second.
I'll
track down our guy and get the specifics

Just throwing the feeler out there to see if anyone else is encountering
any
ill effects from MS08-067...
