Using Windows Explorer [ Start > All Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer ], navigate to the WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution folder
Open the Download folder
Delete *all contents* of the Download folder
Now open the EventCache folder
Delete *all contents* of the EventCache folder
Close Windows Explorer
Initiate a manual visit to Windows Update
If the error code appears again, then open the WindowsUpdate.log located in the WINDOWS directory [folder]
Copy & paste the last 40 lines or so of the log into your reply, please.
