Full Windows version (e.g., Vista SP1; WinXP SP3)?
80070103 Error_No_More_Items: Windows has determined that the selected driver is not the best driver for your machine.
Are you sure that error isn't associated with another update (e.g., an Optional Hardware update)?

Works disc and it seems to want it in order to install. Now it's giving me
error messages about reading a certain .msi file.
Is this update absoloutely necessary even I don't have a disc, or can I
safely ignore it as it's proving extremely difficult to update? :\

This possible fix was posted by Pa Bear yesterday, god luck.
1. Download the update from this link (SAVE it to your desktop, don't RUN
it):
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=458985C3-9C6F-4049-81CD-0D0389C81F11&displaylang=en
2. Insert your MS Works 8 CD (if available) into the appropriate drive
bay.
3. Double-click on the saved file to install the update; follow all
prompts. --

I've looked around and found some helpful posts of your's with a
download
link. I've downloaded it and saved it to my desktop, but when I go to
double click I get a pop-up asking to allow or disallow the installer to
access my computer. Even after clicking Allow, however, nothing further
happens.
