Several updates were available to install but two kb950124 and kb955020 would not install after several attempts. All help is welcomed

See if this applies to the issue, Chuck -

You receive error code 8000FFFF when you click "Check for Updates" in the Windows Update Control Panel item on a Windows Vista-based computer
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946414

If not, try downloading the updates manually and *save* them:
[Using Internet Explorer]

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=KB955020
http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=KB950124

Choose the *specific* update intended for the version of Vista installed. [The 32 bit version will be listed as Update for Windows Vista. The Overview page will show for Architecture: x86]

When the downloads have completed, close all open browers and programs.
*Right* click each download and choose 'Run as administrator'
Follow the prompts
ONLY do one at a time with a reboot in between followed by another reboot.

Did that get them installed ?
