Failed to initialize WU client: 0x8007277a

Hi
I have Windows XP Media center Sp2 installed on my Laptop. I am getting the
following error ( 8007277a ) when trying to run Windows update.

I have done the following steps to resolve this prob. But it is not yet
fixed.
1. Disable the eTrust anti-virus
2. Turn off Windows update
I tried with out turning the off also. I got the same failure.
3. Registered the following dlls.
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuapi.dll
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuaueng.dll
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wucltui.dll
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wups.dll
REGSVR32 MSXML3.dll
4. Restart the Autoupdate Service after registering the dlls. This service
did not start. It is throwing the error: 8007277a.

FYI, this service start type is marked as: "Automatic".

I have been blocked on this. Please advise. I desparately need to install
..net framework 3.0 and 3.5 which are blocked because of these issues.
