Re: Interrupted download SP1 for Vista Business - fix error too!

cf. Windows Vista Help: Windows Update error 80070002:

Are you attempting to install Vista SP1 via Windows Update or manually?

But at his point I get "ACCESS DENIED"

Are you logged on as Administrator?

...add this to my blue scrreens at start-up and
mid-programme use...

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall (if any)?

80070002 error code received - follow fix instructions to turn off update
and empty folders etc which I have done - a number of times as double-check
- but this doesn't work. went to advnaced fix with these instructions
which I followed:

To resolve this problem, remove the download directory, and then visit the
update locations again. To do this, follow these steps:1. Stop the Automatic
Updates service. To do this, follow these steps:a. Click Start, click Run,
type services.msc, and then click OK.
b. Right-click the Automatic Updates service, and then click Stop.
c. Minimize the Services snap-in.

2. Rename the SoftwareDistribution directory. To do this, follow these
steps: a. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
b. Type cd %windir%, and then press ENTER.
c. Type ren SoftwareDistribution SDTemp, and then press ENTER

But at his point I get "ACCESS DENIED"

I simply cannot believe downloading the presumably vital service pack is
proving impossible - and add this to my blue scrreens at start-up and
mid-programme use that make me hate this operating system - oh if only it
wouldn't be a nightmare to uninstall and get my stable, reliable,
problem-free XP back!
