Hi,

I strongly disagree with your " explanation"

I have run norton systemworks for years and it never has corrupted my registry not on one machine I have or of the customers, this so called infiltration does not excist and has nothing to do with a corrupt registry whatsoever.

And please do not come with : you are so lucky again, all these presumptions are based on no facts.

Symantec would have been out of business for a long time already if your statements where true;)

Bye Michel

The guy who brought back here: if it ain.'t broke: do not try to "FIX" it.

The only none standard software on both is Norton Internet Security 2008.

The issue is now resolved. The sp3 installation corrupted a registry entry.
Not really, your Symantec software ("Norton") corrupted a registry
entry while running during the SP3 installation ;)

The Microsoft rep seemed very knowledgable. Complements to Microsoft.
However to have the same problem on two computers, problems which I have
never experienced before, seems to indicate that this patch was not very
thoroughly tested.
Well, let me guess that both machines are infiltrated by Symantec software,
true?

Bye,
Freudi

Norton may work well on some machines but, noway on all. I junked it after it crashed my system 2 times.
