Are you attempting to install SP3 via Windows Update or manually?
See this archived discussion: http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsupdate/browse_frm/thread/720f38cc13b9f693
Free unlimited installation and compatibility support is available for Windows XP, but only for Service Pack 3 (SP3), until 14 Apr-09. Chat and e-mail support is available only in the United States and Canada.

I installed the SP3 on two of my computers, but cannot get it to install on
the third. I keep getting a message that says "An error occurred while
copying file beethov9.wma. Cannot copy file to destination directory."
When I say I want it to continue anyway, I get a message that says "Ensure
that the location below is correct...
windows\software distribution\download\dd9ab519350h84c...etc.
This has happened three times. Any suggestions as to what I can do?
