Update KB950749 and Error Code Dx80070005

I'm new to computers and this group. I have Windows XP Pro with automatic
update set. Automatic Update KB950749 failed to install today and yesterday.
When I click the "failed" icon, I get error code Dx80070005. I see there are
options to find out what is wrong - but when I try these I run into dead
ends. For example, I see in one spot that there is no Microsoft charge for
update issues - but elsewhere I get the message that my computer is not
eligible for this and that there will be a $59 charge. I encountered other
frustrations.

Is there an easy answer to my problem?
