RE: Update for KB 947864 failing

Thanks. That worked really well. I was poking around in another newsgroup
and found a bunch of messages on this problem. MS should tell people about
the possiblity of this happending. Still the 943144 did the trick. Much
Thanks.

Found the website
Go to this link and try all three methods. The first one worked for me and
fixed 5 updates i could not install after installing SP3.

I'm builind a new XP PC for a new hire and I updated it to SP3 and then did a
Windows Update. The last update that it found is a security update for IE7
based on KB 947864. I 've tried several times to install this update. Iused
a domain admin logon and the administrator logon, but no success. It does
not even give me an error, it just says it failed. When I went to the update
history, the failed update was not even listed. I usually depend on that to
determine what is wrong. Does anyone know of a incompatibility between this
update and SP3? For the present I just hid the update, but that is less than
desigable. any suggestions for how to approach the problem? With no error
message I'm at a loss.
