Re: .net Temp Files?

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

..NET Framework 1 is native to MCE. Something must have installed .NET 2.
Did you run the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor ? -

What is required to run Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor?

To install and run the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor, you will need:

* Administrator privileges
* .NET 2.0*
<snip>

If no application nor program that is installed requires .NET Framework 2 in order for it to run, than you can uninstall it from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
IF .NET Framework 3 is installed than do *NOT* uninstall 2.

BTW, did you move the folders while in Safe Mode ?

Plain Windows XP MCE computer. MCE disabled
Disabled
Safe Mode - still cant delete the folders

But I finally got it...I tried moving the folders - to a temp subfolder and then I could delete them.

Is there an ATI display adapter and the Catalyst Control Center
installed ? If yes, close Catalyst Control Center in normal Windows mode and see if the folders can be deleted.
If Quicken/QuickBooks or other accounting software is installed and that's what installed .NET Framework 2.0, suggest stopping it/them from loading on boot temporarily and see if that helps in deleting the folders.

Have you done a boot to Safe Mode and then attempted to delete the folders ?

Was .NET 2.0 SP1 installed recently ?
Is it listed as being installed in the Control Panel ?
[The exact location in CP depends upon the version of Windows]

The folders have 10 .msp files in them

I cannot delete the folders at all. I can't dtermine with procesex who has the files open. I now have 7 of these folders on my drive. how do I get rid of them, or kill the process that is creating these?
