That is if your hardware does not function well and an updated driver is
needed for that reason.

If it ain't broke: do not try to"FIX" it.

I'd recommend that you only download/install driver updates for that
machine that are offered by Dell Support Downloads pages.

I installed both, only to find that on reboot my screen went AWOL!

Luckily the keyboard was still functioning so I restarted in Safe Mode
and
performed a System Restore taken just before these two, so I know it was
one
of them. I suspect it is the 82830M.

I run a Dell 2800 Inspiron laptop.
