Re: HID Non-User Input Data Filter Error

Yes! Laura! Cheers!

A possible surmise of the underlying cause ... I repaired my system after we
changed to daylight savings time but the XP SP2 assumed the old date for
start of DST, and it still thinks its DST. So the time-stamps of
wdf01000.sys as replaced differ by one hour.

I just ran Windows Update and tried installing the fix for this problem.
Unfortunately, it would not install and gave me Error Code: 0x80070643.
Anyone know what this means?

Thanks!

After updating my system from Windows XP Home to Professional, I receive
the following error each time I boot my system:

Cannot Install this Hardware

There was a problem installing this hardware:

HID Non-User Input Data Filter

An error occured during the installation of the device

Fatal error during installation

My computer is a Dell Inspiron 5100 and the mouse that is giving me the
trouble is a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 1.0A. So far, I've
tried the following:

- Rolling back the driver to a prior version.
- Installing Microsoft Intellipoint 6.2 software.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I went into the same problem. Look into your Windows directorye for a log
file named wfd01005Inst.log (or similar) updated at the time youried to
install the update.
Open this log file, it should allow you to see what caused the install
error. In my case, I found "FileVersion of
E:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\wdf01000.sys is Greater Than 1.5.5600.0".

Thus, I renamed the wfd01000.sys file, ran the update again and voilà !, it
went fine, no more error !

I restarted Windows, no more New hardware Install failure message...

Out of curiosity, I checked the file wfd01000.sys installed by the update,
it was exactly the same than the old one.

Hope this helps
