Thanks to all who tried to help and it's much appreciated,
although nothing seems to have resolved this issue of my
jaundiced screen! Tried everything but nothing is helping, so
it looks like I will have to sadly consult a local technician
which goes against the grain but .......... If and when I get
it resolved, I will post the answer in case it happens to
anyone else. I must say that I am totally perplexed on this
one as usually there is a solution to any problem, but I have
never seen this type of incident before. Thanks again guys for
your input. Regards. Bill

I'm sorry to hear that you're still in pain, but for the benefit
of us who tried to help (and got into some tiffs with each other!
<grin>), please tell us what you did try.

I am confused as to how many updates you DID install before
everything turned yellow. Apparently, I missed the fact that you
did NOT install the one you mentioned but MAYBE you installed
some number of some 16 I think you mentioned. I think you also
said that you didn't have a recent RP to use to roll back your
system, maybe you said/meant you had no RPs or they failed or
they were too old to be of use. I can't recall if you did or did
not try to uninstall some/all of the most recent updates to see
if one or more of them interacted badly with your video driver.
You would use Control Panel Add/Remove Programs for that.

In short, could you give us a summary of what happened in
chronological order leading up to your problem and what steps you
took to remedy it either on your own or after getting help here?
I am requesting this as much to see if further help might be
available for you to avoid a big bill at your local computer
store as well as for anyone else who has an (alleged) MS update-
related problem. That includes me, as well, as I am always trying
to learn.

One more suggestion, when you ask for help here or in any MS
peer-to-peer help NG, it is EXTREMELY important to tell people
what version of Windows you're on and some details on your
system. I don't think anyone realized you're on Vista for several
days.

Good luck in solving your problem as quickly and inexpensively as
possible.
