Was HDD Port Monitoring Software part of the Dell software package or
belonged to someone else? I do not think I have that on my computer, unless
it is part of the BIOS.
My USB controllers all show up, no yellow "!". I tried removing all
controllers, restarting the computer and let it autoinstall the drivers. No
joy. I am off to try to uninstall KB943055. KB946026 & KB944533 to see if
that fixes my problem.

If I go to the device manager, under Universal serial bus controllers I see
4 USB universal host controllers - 27C8, 27C9, 27CA, 27CB and 1 USB2
enhanced universal host controller - 27CC
Opening each controller:
Intel 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB Universal Host Controller - 27C8
Location: PCI bus 0, device 29, function 0
Intel 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB Universal Host Controller - 27C9

Location: PCI bus 0, device 29, function 3
Intel 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB2 Enhanced Host Controller - 27CC
Location: PCI bus 0,device 29, function 7
All the controllers have yellow ! tags and exhibit device status:
Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot
find the hardware device. (Code 41)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.
The driver is dated 5/23/2005, version 7.0.0.1020
The USB hardware is fine since I can operate my wireless keyboard to access
the bios on boot up. This problem occured immediately after I allowed the
automatic update to proceed. I have tried re-installing the keyboard driver,
and the chipset driver with no success. I have uninstalled all the updates
Microsoft will allow to be uninstalled. Some updates cannot be uninstalled,
and restore will not go back.
I am totally stuck, and I require USB2 for my work. I do not want to rebuild
my OS, as it will take days to setup all my apps again, justto have this
update blow me away again...
Please help!
Thanks...

Help!
I installed the new windows update, now device manager repots code 41 it
can't find hardware. First noticed as wireless keyboard went away. Tried
resore, and it wouldn't, tried uninstall, but it won't uninstall
everything.
Tried reinstalling drivers for keyboard and for chipset, that didn't fix
it.
I have already spent hours on this...
Thanks
