"Configure update, step 3 of 3" and 0%" - Help Please

I am having the same problem and my PC has been unusable since Wednesday.
When I read this fix from Anguas I wonder if booting from the Vista install
media will delete all of the information stored on my hard drive. If so is
there a way to back it up now? I tried doing a "Repair your Computer" from
the Safe Mode and received this message "Limited Diagnostic State". Not
being a Tech I quit for fear of really screwing things up. Can anyone give
me a plain step by step way to get my PC back up and running. I am really a
novice. Thanks for any help you can give.

Désactiver la mise à jour KB937287 :

cliquer sur "afficher l'historique des mises à jour" , Vérifier que la
mise à jour KB937287 soit en échec ,
Sinon cliquer sur "Vérifier les mises à jour" et décocher KB937287 dans
la
liste.
