Re: KB942615 -- still problem with this update -- PROBLEM!

says...
Sure give it another shot:

Well, PA Bear, I installed IE7, following all your suggestions, and I've
ended up back where I was! I cannot connect to the Net, either through
IE7, Firefox, OneCare, or Windows Update (through Help & Support).

I am presently doing a restore to yesterday, after the successful
installation of IE6.

This is a major MS screw-up. I've been working with micros since 1981,
and have near-endless patience in working problems through. I have spent
a minimum of eight hours (since KB942615 was first installed, through
auto update). I have a laptop running Vista, so I can still get onto the
Net to find solutions ...what in heck are neophytes and grannies with
only one machine doing?! (I know none of this is your fault; you have
been a great help to many.)

Microsoft has got to figure out what is wrong with KB942615, and then
correct the code errors, for once and for all. This is a farce, and must
be hurting MS's reputation.

I'll get up & running again with IE6, but I hope you, as an MVP in IE,
can get a message through to who-ever to get this situation fixed.

Again, thanks for your help & attention.

installation source, not Automatic/Windows Update. Make *certain* that you
check in at Windows Update immediately after installing IE7 and install any
critical updates offered. If Optional Updates category offers Root
Certificates update, I recommend installing it to take full advantage of
IE7's additional security.]
