Re: Optional Hardware Update

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hello Ralp,

You are welcome;)

Take your driver here if needed:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&cc=be&dlc=nl&product=3363837&lang=nl&;

As stated before: taking non MS hardware drivers from Windows update is not
recommanded.

Best regards,
Michel Denie

Michel:
Thanks for your reply. I had suspected that the "update" was a driver but
Microsoft provided no documentation at all. I have a dual bood system with
Win XP on both partitions. I have loaded HP's drivers on partition 2 only
and on this partition, Windows Update does not offer the "update".
However, on Partition 1, I have NOT loaded drivers. The system recognizes
the HP w2207 only as a Plug and Play monitor and Windows Update offers the
update. As far as I can tell the monitor works equally well in both
configurations. My guess is that the monitor informs the (ingegrated)
graphics adapter as to what its optimum resolution is. Can you think of
any reason the I should load the drivers.

Hi there,

Taking OPTIONAL drivers from windows update for non Microsoft hardware is
not reccomanded.

If your hardware works fine: just leave it be working fine.

If an update is needed because the harware does not funtion well ( if it
ain't brokeot try to "FIX" it) than go to the manufactures website for an
updated driver.

Best regards,
Michel Denie

HP has not been helpful and clcking on "details" in Windows Update
yields no useful information.

Why not contact HP and find out -
http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html

Or check details on the update to see if there is any further
information
depending upon the OS you're using and how you're accessing WU either
via the
website or control panel.
