Re: Automatic Update Detection Interval

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

I *guess* it does, but do not know for sure. Try here:

Configure Automatic Updates by Using Group Policy [AD]

Configure Clients in a Non–Active Directory Environment

The WSUS html-based newsgroup is here:

Feel free to consult the experts there for questions concerning WSUS <w>

Thanks for your answer.

Another question is when the user first logon to the network, does it automatically force update detection with WSUS server? Will this have the same effect as running wuauclt/detectnow in DOS prompt after logon?

If the status is set to Disabled or Not Configured, Windows will check for available updates at the default interval of 22 hours.

22 hours appears to be the max and going by the below, it's the Default.

By default every 22 hours, minus a random offset, Automatic Updates polls the WSUS server for approved updates; if any new updates need to be installed, they are downloaded. The amount of time between each detection cycle can be manipulated from 1 to 22 hours by using Group Policy.

Good monring!

I wonder if anyone knows the maximum interval setting for this field? Using up/down arrow, the maximum numebr of hours it can go is 22. However, if I were to key in the field, there is no limit as to how many numbers I can type.

We would like to set it to weekly (168 hours), can it be done?

Thanks in advance!
