Thanks again Michel. I discovered the answer. It was a response to a virus
update. I found my IP #. The link is also helpful.

Hello Anna ,

You can check your IP adres by going to: www.whatismyip.com

You best post this in a networking group, since this is not a windows
update
issue. You can find all newsgroups here ;

This morning when I went to my computer ( It had been turned on for
an
hour
or so but I hadn't looked at it) I saw a message from my firewall,
through
Computer Associates, which said it had detected a new network and
had
assigned it to the internet zone. To the best of my knowledge I had
not
installed any new network. The only option the window gave me via a
dropdown
menu was to change the internet zone to trusted which I did not and
to
click
OK to get out which I did. It identified the net work though an IP
number.
After that I could not initialy access the internet either through
Internet
Explorer or Firefox. After I rebooted my modem and my router things
worked
OK. I was uneasy about it all so I did an uneventful scan and dumped
everything else I could via disc cleanup and internet options. It's
working
fine now but I'm worried about spywear or something. Any thoughts? I
am
limited in my knowledge at this level so would appreciate any
information
anyone has to share. Also how can I find out my computer's IP
number?
Thanks,
Anna
