This posting has helped me. I have been trying for days to get 2007 Office
SP1 to install -- just kept getting the 78f error. I inserted my Office 2007
DVD in the drive and tried the install again -- and it was successful!
My comment is -- why should this update be so difficult and the solution so
obscure? If insertion of the DVD is needed, why isn't this important fact
BOLDLY stated on the Windows Update page?

Have you solved the 78f error yet?
If not have you tried with the Office 2007 DVD in each of your DVD
drives?
Insert the Office 2007 in the drive before going to Microsoft/Windows
Update.
Then start Windows/Microsoft Update.
If you still have problems, can you contact me at the "E-Mail Me" on
this page:

I may be able to point you to a resolution.
If you drop the "1" it will get to me a little faster.
If you are not having the 78f error, this does not apply.

Thanks. Tried this but the same thing happened and I got the 78F
error.
Should I have done anything with the MS Office disk, apart from just
put it
in the CD/DVD drive?
