hi anymore ideas that one doesnt work tried it 10 times mine just says

Give this a shot ... go to Start > Run > type in
net stop wuauserv
Click OK or press Enter
Show hidden files, folders, and system files:

Navigate to C:\WINNT\SoftwareDistribution
Rename SoftwareDistribution to SoftwareDistribution.old
Back to Start > Run > type in
net start wuauserv
Click OK or press Enter
Download and SAVE the lastest version of the Windows Update Agent:
For XP and Vista - 32 bit

Download and save : Update for Windows XP (KB927891) [ NOT FOR VISTA ! ]
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=7A81B0CD-A0B9-497E-8A89-404327772E5A&displaylang=en
When the downloads are finished close the browser and any other open
programs
Install WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe
Now install WindowsXP-KB927891-v3-x86-ENU.exe
Restart the system
Back to Start > Run > type in
wuauclt /detectnow
Click OK or press Enter
The system will now check for updates automatically
If the updates downloaded get installed successfully then you can safely
delete the SoftwareDistribution.old folder
If they do NOT, please post the last 40 or so lines of the WU.log again.

Everything except Windows Updating seems to work correctly, but something in
my system is not right or was damaged during upgrading Windows. Any help
would be much appreciated.
