Unfortunately I have found out that this won't work either as the driver is
embedded within Vista itself - it hasn't downloaded it from Windows Update.
After sleeping on it however, I think the best solution is to reinstall Vista
to see if it picks up the adapter and automatically loads the drivers during
the installation routine.

Now that's annoying. I'm just starting with Vista so this is a long shot -.
Check the downloads folder in the softwaredistribution folder - is the
update in the downloads folder. Perhaps you could try a manual install from
there. This works sometimes in XP.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I have done as you and Microsoft suggest and renamed the
SoftwareDistribution directory but unfortunately it didn't work and when it
downloaded the driver again, I got the same 'File Not Found' message.

Try renaming the whole folder:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=910336
1. Stop the Windows Update service (make sure you are logged on as an Administrator)
Start button || Control Panel ||System and Maintenance ||Administrative Tools
Double-click Services
(Provide the Administrator password or confirmation if prompted to do so.)
Right-click the Windows Update service and click Stop.
2. Click Start, type %windir% in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
Locate and open the SoftwareDistribution folder.
Clear the contents of the DataStore folder and the Downloads folder.
3. Start the Windows Update service
Start button || Control Panel ||System and Maintenance ||Administrative Tools
Double-click Services
(Provide the Administrator password or confirmation if prompted to do so.)
Right-click the Windows Update service and click Start.
This procedure will erase your history on the Windows Update Site.

|I currently use Vista Ultimate and have recently purchased a USR805417a

| Can anyone suggest a solution?
