Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Freudi,

I just now reran the cmd and typed in the attrib and it returned 12 entries.
So maybe that is fixed now. Will take a look at this KB and try another
install and let you know.
Regards!

Reference your link to KB822798. I had already been through Method 4,
having
cmd problems.

Please specify "cmd problems". Which exact error messages?

Method 5: Remove the hidden attribute from %windir% and from its
subfolders.
When I open CMD, it shows: C:\Documents and Settings\JR> and the cursor
flashing. Each time I try to use it, I get this response - 'whatever' but
in
this case, 'attrib' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

Pardon? Let's try a simple "attrib" *without* any quotation marks there.
What's the exact (error) message you receive?

Have you unsinstalled ZoneAlarm in the meantime and re-enabled Windows
Firewall instead? If not, just do it.

Bye,
Freudi
