Whatever their reason, it has greatly disadvanged those of us who have
genuine Windows and like to install all high priority updates before
installing any 3rd party software. I won't open my browser to any other
website without security software installed except Windows Updates and the
MSN member center to download the dial up software. Now I have to figure out
how to install IE7 successfully with McAfee (McCrappy) installed and
interfering. PITA.

Because Microsoft takes its commitment to help protect the entire Windows ecosystem
seriously, we’re updating the IE7 installation experience to make it available as broadly
as possible to all Windows users. With today’s “Installation and Availability Update,”
Internet Explorer 7 installation will no longer require Windows Genuine Advantage
validation and will be available to all Windows XP users.
It's being UN-WGA'ed. By 'available to all Windows XP users', does that
mean XP RTM and SP1 ?
BTW, it is available here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/ie/default.mspx
Still no system requirements readily found on that page, either.

Yup, soon after the "re-release" of IE7 on October 4th (see
http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2007/10/04/internet-explorer-7-update.aspx)
IE7 vanished from Windows/Microsoft/AutoUpdate and is still not offered
from there at the moment. Me thinks that's a temporary "issue" and we will
see IE7 there more or less soon and as silent as it vanished.
