It 'sounds' as if a driver is causing this issue.
Suggest you boot straight to Safe Mode by repeatedly pressing the F8 key just after hearing the 'beep' from the tower.
Once in Safe Mode open the Device Manager [right click My Computer either on the Desktop or Start Menu and choose Manage]
Check to see if there are any yellow exclamation points for any installed hardware.
If you find one, double click the problematic device and then click the Driver tab.
Use the 'Rollback Driver' button to reinstall the previous driver that functioned correctly.

I need help to be able to install updates from windows update..
When I have installed an update (it seams like I could be anyone of the updates) the computer installs it properly and tells me to to push restart after the sucessfull installation. But the computer can't restart after the installation. It starts but then after a few seconds in shuts down. Next time when I try to start the computer, I get the questions if I whant to start it safe mode or the other options. But most of the time the computer has already been shout down again bofore or right after I have choosen one of the options.
Luckely, somtimes it takes a little bit longer before it shuts down and then I can start in safe mode and go back to a earlier configuration.
What shold i do to be able to install the updates?
