There is no 'real' Admin account in Vista. That change was made to prevent malware installation. Apparently, it's also preventing some folks from installing updates. Not good.
After downloading the update to the Desktop can you move it to the C:\ drive or is Permission being denied for that, too ?
Since this is a Cumulative Security Update for IE :
• Customers in the U.S. and Canada can receive technical support from Microsoft Product Support Services at 1-866-PCSAFETY. There is no charge for support calls that are associated with security updates.
• International customers can receive support from their local Microsoft subsidiaries. There is no charge for support that is associated with security updates. For more information about how to contact Microsoft for support issues, visit the International Support Web site.

STRONGLY suggest that you call this issue in. Mention no other updates, just this one specifically.

Thanks. Tried downloading both automatically and manually from web-site. Followed your instructions but Vista would not let me save the file to the root (C:) directory. Message says 'You do not have permission to save in this location. Contact administrateor' However I AM the administrator! (Confirmed in Control panel/user accounts). So I saved to desktop, closed all apparently open programs and tried to install but it failed again..

Was KB933566 downloaded via Automatic Updates or from the Windows Update site ?
If either/or, suggest you download and SAVE it to the root drive [the drive where Windows is installed to, usually C:\], from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9b4d2fa7-d81e-499d-93c7-f64dc53b11b2&DisplayLang=en
When the download completes close IE7 and any other open programs.
Now go to Start, Start search and type in
cmd
*Right click* cmd in the Programs list
Choose ' Run as administrator', click Continue
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
wusa.exe C:\Windows6.0-KB933566-x86.msu
Press Enter
OR, locate Windows6.0-KB933566-x86.msu at C:\, *right click* it, choose 'Run as administrator', click Continue
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
Restart the system
Did that get it installed ?
