Re: Update for Internet Explorer 7 in Windows Vista (KB933566)

Thanks. Tried downloading both automatically and manually from web-site.
Followed your instructions but Vista would not let me save the file to the
root (C:) directory. Message says 'You do not have permission to save in this
location. Contact administrateor' However I AM the administrator!
(Confirmed in Control panel/user accounts). So I saved to desktop, closed all
apparently open programs and tried to install but it failed again.

Was KB933566 downloaded via Automatic Updates or from the Windows Update
site ?
If either/or, suggest you download and SAVE it to the root drive [the
drive where Windows is installed to, usually C:\], from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9b4d2fa7-d81e-499d-93c7-f64dc53b11b2&DisplayLang=en

When the download completes close IE7 and any other open programs.
Now go to Start, Start search and type in
cmd

*Right click* cmd in the Programs list
Choose ' Run as administrator', click Continue
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation,
type the password, or click Allow.
At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

wusa.exe C:\Windows6.0-KB933566-x86.msu

Press Enter

OR, locate Windows6.0-KB933566-x86.msu at C:\, *right click* it, choose
'Run as administrator', click Continue
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation,
type the password, or click Allow.
Restart the system

Did that get it installed ?
