Your tip perfect! Shield gone. Must I uninstall .net Framework 1.1

in Add/Remove Programs and download again as other posts indicate? And,
should I disable firewall/anti virus when doing so. Ya done good! Much
appreciated. I'm very pleased.

What applications did you disable, ***?

Is Windows Update offering you any (more) critical security updates?

I apologize for the delay. I was unsure of how much I should include.
Robear, my issue is resolved. No shield, no notice of pending updates.
Completed tonight with help from MS Update Support Professional. I have
you gmail and if you would like me to copy the e-mails I would be happy to
do that with added comments. For all I know the problem is resolved for
all.
I would Subject the e-mails texas928366. By the way, following your tip,
the shield did disappear only to return.

Feel free to post the instructions PSS gave you *in a reply to this thread* (only), please.
