I have read at least a dozen of microsoft customers nightmares re:
the above.......I believe "Putnik" said it the best, "couldn't
microsoft issue an automatic update to wipe out the lot and start
again"! Apparently, there is no simple solution for the majority of
us who are NOT COMPUTER TECH'S & are finding the various solutions
from the many responses to be somewhat 'mind boggling' to say the
least!

While we can appreciate your frustration and non-technical background - this
is not the place to expect a response to your complaint. Most here are
volunteers - most do not work for Microsoft in any form. We use the
products and decided (on our own) to try and help others who might be having
trouble using the same products.

Start a free Windows Update support incident request:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?gprid=6527

Contact the actual source of the problem and complain there - perhaps they
have an easier solution by now (combining efforts here, internally, etc.)
Come back and let us know what happens!
