Yes I remember having to go through all of this too in the past,

My question is, why do we need version 1 if you have version 2. Now
I see there is a version 3, do we need versions 1 and 2?
Are the newer versions just add ons for version 1 so that you would
need to just keep the old versions and download the newer ones too
in order for everything to work?
My understanding of the .NET Framework family...
1.1 is patches to 1.0. So those two merge.
2.0 did not replace 1.1 - some apps you may run into may still utilize 1.1.
3.0 is 2.0+more. SO if you have 3.0, you can do all the 2.0 stuff and 3.0
stuff.
Someone might correct me - but I am pretty sure that is the way of things
right now.
