A little TLC never hurt anyone. Post back if it re-occurs.

I have not updated any drivers recently..
The Updates were KB936825 and KB931213.
I have been logged on and using my computer without incidnet for more than
an hour. Maybe it just wanted to know I cared.

Check your drivers.
Two with same issue have said:
1) a new driver for graphics card caused the issue
2) PCI IDE Driver

After installing two (2) Vista Updates on June 13, 2007 my computer
started
experiencing random lockups. The problem does not seem to be tied to any
particular program. In addition, if I login immediately after rebooting,
my
computer opens the windows desktop but remains locked. If I wait several
minutes at the login screen, I am able to login and then run programs
until
the next random failure.
I cannot restore a previous state because I logged into my XP system to
see
if the problem was with the computer. I experienced no problems running
XP
but subsequently learned that this deleted previous restore points for
Vista.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and, if so, have you found a
solution?
