Re: Automatic Update Graphics Controller Driver Issue

Also, to correct my original statement, Intel recommended not to use the
driver with a third-party graphics card but NVidia is where the
recommendations re: uninstalling driver and disabling controller came from.
Maybe HP and Compaq will one day stop using integrated graphics controllers
and resort to cards like so many others do. It sure makes things easier.
Especially when they note: no recommendations which can be very scary to
newcomers in system building.

You've disabled what? Are you having any display problems? If you've
uninstalled (rolled back) the Intel driver before with no ill affects, sure,
uninstall it (roll it back) again.

Pa, it's me again, lol. About the rest of my question,

Experienced users NEVER install third-party hardware or software updates
offered by Windows Update.

Change your Automatic Updates configuration to Notify Only to avoid this
problem in future.

I have intentionally not installed this driver due to the addition of a
third-party graphics card. Prior to installing the new card, the advice
given was to uninstall the graphics driver from the original controller
and
disable the original controller which I have done.

A few moments ago, windows automatic updates appeared saying Windows has
found one update and, not being able to identify the update as well as
being
under the impression it may be a security update, I clicked ok to
install.
At the last minute, I saw it was the Intel driver I'd previously
installed.
By then it was too late and on restarting, the driver was once again
installed. Intel advises not to use the driver if the system has a
third-party graphics card installed.

That's not all, 1) Originally after the installation, the Intel
controller
was listed first under display adaptor in Device Manager then NVidia
graphics card. 2) Yesterday, I noticed NVidia was listed first with
(Microsoft Corporation) next to it then the Intel controller was listed.
A
few moments ago, I noticed it's reversed to the original Menu listing.

I did have an issue earlier with Nvidia card and had to
uninstall/reinstall
drivers but that shouldn't keep things playing hop scotch.

Since automatic updates reinstalled the driver for Intel controller,
I've
again disabled it. Is this going to hurt my NVidia card? Is this going
to
hurt my system? Should I once again uninstall the Intel driver?

TIA
