I have exactly the same problem on a DELL Dimension 5521 with preinstalled
Windows Vista Home Premium. When the error message about the failed update
comes up it gives the error code 80070020.
Hardly "exactly the same problem" with such a different error code:

The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
